BigCommerce connector

Add BigCommerce with store-level API access and retain the source order trail

The BigCommerce connector is the ingestion layer. It brings the store's order facts into the correct ClearCommerce company so accounting mappings can be reviewed separately before Xero posting.

What is configured at connection time

ClearCommerce uses a store-level BigCommerce API token for the connection. The token belongs to one company tenant and is encrypted rather than copied into page code or logs.

What is imported for accounting review

The useful accounting source is more than an order total. Order identifiers, relevant dates, status, tax, shipping, discounts, payment method and billing information provide the context needed to build a correct Xero result.

What is deliberately not hardcoded

The connector does not decide that a particular payment method must use one Xero clearing account, or that every order must become an invoice. Those are company accounting choices stored in mappings and export profiles.

From connector to accounts

Three layers keep the setup understandable

BigCommerce source

The connector records what the store says happened, with stable references for audit and retry.

ClearCommerce treatment

The store profile and mappings define paid-date grouping, Xero accounts, tax and payment clearing.

Xero output

The preview shows the proposed accounting record before authorised posting and duplicate-safe history.

Setup at a glance

Three steps to a working BigCommerce connection

  1. Generate a store-level API token with order and tax read scopes
  2. Add the token in ClearCommerce and confirm the store name
  3. Run a source import and review the first batch before any Xero export
Questions people ask

FAQs

What BigCommerce permissions does ClearCommerce need?

A store-level API token with read access to orders, taxes and shipping is enough to import source data; no storefront or product write access is required.

Does the BigCommerce connector cover VAT mapping too?

No, mapping and posting rules are configured separately. This connector covers store authorisation and order import only.

Is BigCommerce data imported in real time?

Orders are imported by date range on a scheduled or on-demand basis, so the review step happens before anything reaches Xero.
